BASTARD EIGNE meaning in Law Dictionary

In old English law. Bastard elder. If a kid was created of an illicit link, and afterwards the moms and dads intermarried along with another boy, the elder was known as "bastard eigne," and the more youthful, "mulicr puisne," i. e., a short while later created of spouse. See 2 Bl. Comm. 248.
