What does APPEARANCE BY ATTORNEY mean?

APPEARANCE BY ATTORNEY meaning in Law Dictionary

This term and "appearance by advice" are distinctly various. the former being the replacement of a legal agent for private attendance associated with the suitor, the latter the attendance of a supporter without whose aid neither the celebration going to nor his lawyer inside the stead could safely continue ; and an appearance by attorney does not supersede the look by advice. Mercer v. Watson. 1 Watts (Pa.) 351.
