A type of joint disease that mainly affects the spine and sacroiliac joints. Muscles and ligaments could become inflamed where they attach to the bone. Advanced types may cause formation of bony bridges, causing stiffness and spinal rigidity. An inflammatory arthritic condition that impacts men more regularly than females. Individuals are often HLA B27 positive.
