A yeast-like fungal organism within small amounts in the typical human intestinal region. Normally held in check because of the system's very own helpful bacteria, C. albicans increases in numbers when this stability is disturbed to cause candidiasis associated with the abdominal system, or yeast infections of other parts of human anatomy. C. albicans causes thrush. Also referred to as Monilia albicans.
