The involuntary, forcible closing of eyelids. The first symptoms might be uncontrollable blinking. Just one eye could be impacted initially, but ultimately both eyes are included. The spasms may leave the eyelids entirely sealed, causing practical loss of sight even though the eyes and vision tend to be normal. Blepharospasm is a type of focal dystonia.
