Bedsore meaning in Medical Dictionary

an agonizing, often reddened area of degenerating, ulcerated epidermis that is brought on by stress and insufficient motion and is worsened by contact with urine or other irritating substances. Untreated bedsores could become seriously contaminated or gangrenous. Bedsores tend to be a problem for clients who are confined to a bed or wheelchair, in addition they are prevented by going the in-patient often, altering bedding, and keeping the skin clean and dry. Also called force sore, decubitus sore, and decubitus ulcer.
