Baroparesis meaning in Medical Dictionary

Reversible paralysis of the facial nerve because of stress in the middle ear rising in an airplane or surfacing in scuba. The excessive stress in the centre ear compresses the facial neurological and causes short-term paralysis. After landing in an airplane or surfacing in diving, the ear stress returns to normalcy together with neurological paralysis subsides. Also known as alternobaric facial nerve palsy.
