An illness due to the parasite Babesia which is transmitted from creatures to humans by ticks. The symptoms feature temperature, chills, perspiring, myalgias (muscle tissue aches), fatigue, hepatosplenomegaly (enhancement associated with liver and spleen) and hemolytic anemia (anemia as a result of break-up of purple cells). Symptoms typically take place after an incubation amount of 1 to 30 days and may endure many weeks. The illness is much more extreme in customers that are immunosuppressed, splenectomized (lack their spleen), or elderly. It may cause death. Treatment requires antibiotics, generally clindamycin and quinine or atovaquone and azithromycin.
