brief for well-balanced Technology Extended, BTX is a motherboard form element first launched by Intel on September 17, 2003 as a substitute for ATX. BTX was later revised to 1.0a, that has been introduced in February 2004. The BTX includes features particularly a reduced profile, more effective layout to help with air conditioning, scalable board to accommodate different system sizes, and assistance mechanisms to aid support high-mass motherboard elements. In September 2006, Intel launched that it was stopping all future development of BTX.
