Bench; the seat of judgment; where a courtroom forever or regularly sits. The entire workbench, full courtroom. A "sitting in banc" is a gathering of the many judges of a judge, usually for the true purpose of reading arguments on demurrers, things reserved, movements for brand new test, etc., as distinguished from sitting of a single judge within assises or at nisi-prius and from trials at club.
