An abnormal and persistent concern with loneliness, of being alone. A fear of solitude. Victims from autophobia may experience anxiety although they understand that being alone does not threaten their well being. They could bother about being dismissed and unloved, or they could worry about intruders, strange noises and/or chance of developing a medical problem.
