meaning of Arthrogryposis

Arthrogryposis meaning in Medical Dictionary

shared contractures that progress before birth and tend to be obvious at beginning. With arthrogryposis there is a lack of the conventional flexibility in one or maybe more joints. In normal embryonic development, joints is seen moving by 8 weeks of gestation. This movement of bones is important toward correct development of the bones and frameworks around them. Limitation of joint motion before birth causes joint contractures and arthrogryposis. Prenatal restriction of joint flexibility can result from neurologic deficits, muscle flaws, connective tissue defects, and fetal crowding (where there isn't room enough the fetus to go around easily within the uterus).
