A procedure by which a sterile needle and syringe are accustomed to strain fluid from joint. This is done as an office procedure or on bedside in the hospital. For many problems, medicine is put into the joint after liquid removal. The needle will be removed, and a bandage or dressing is used across entry way. Combined liquid could be analyzed to determine the cause of the shared inflammation, like disease, gout, or rheumatoid infection. Arthrocentesis can be helpful in relieving joint inflammation and discomfort. Also called combined aspiration.
