Alternative Investment Market meaning in Finance Dictionary

A market designed for tiny, young and growing businesses, operated by the London Stock Exchange as a regulated market of a Recognised Investment Exchange (RIE) and arranged in June 1995. It replaced the Unlisted Securities Market (USM). The market provides the opportunity for businesses to increase capital for development, a trading center and an easy method of developing a market value with their shares. The admission criteria for AIM tend to be less stringent than for the main marketplace.
