1927, in framework of Soviet literary censorship, in reference to writing "obscure or ambiguous, usually allegorical, which disguises dissent," from Aesop, the standard daddy regarding the allegorical fable, + -ic. The word (Russian ezopovskii, 1875) arose in Tsars as well as the design had been employed by Russian communists. When they took energy the term was applied by them as a charge against their dissidents.
