a form of cancer tumors that most often develops into the salivary glands of the head and throat. It could occur in other sites including the skin, lacrimal gland, trachea, breast, cervix and prostate. Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) features a characteristic appearance in microscope. Abnormal "nests" or cords of certain cells (epithelial cells) is visible to encircle or infiltrate ducts and glandular frameworks. These frameworks are usually full of a mucous-like material or consist of unusual fibrous membranes (hyaline membranes).
