Abortive polio is a minor illness. It makes up 80-90per cent of medically obvious cases of polio infection, mainly in young children. It doesn't involve the CNS. The typical symptoms tend to be small fever, malaise, headache, sore throat and vomiting which hit 3-5 times after exposure to the polio virus. Complete recovery happens in 24-72 hours. There are not any permanent handicaps of any sort.
